A nun is depicted standing before a small statue of a Madonna and child in a cobblestone alleyway. A graphite inscription on the verso identifies the place as "[t]he Garden at St. Ann[e]'s House / in back of St. John the Evangelist / Church / Beacon Hill, Boston." St. Anne's House was located at 44 Temple St.
